Often after a speaking engagement, I get asked if there’s a man in my life. I think I shocked the last person that asked that when I said, “Well no, not one, but two men, and I love them both the same!”

I guess I was feeling kind of spunky and the expression on their face was priceless. Then I said, “Yes, how I love my Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.” Then we both started laughing.

Truth be told, I love my Ben & Jerry’s. My favorite flavor is Everything But The . . . Here’s how it’s described by the company: A collision of chocolate & vanilla ice creams mixed with peanut butter cups, fudge-covered toffee pieces, white chocolatety chunks & fudge covered almonds. Here’s my description: Heaven in a container. Pure unadulterated genius . . .  and chocolatety goodness.

What I’m trying to figure out now is how to lose the 25 pounds I’ve gained this summer. Yikes. Easy putting on the weight and so dang hard getting rid of it! I know I’ll have to drag my caboose to the gym and start dancing like a crazed Brazilian at Mardi Gras amped up on Turkish coffee.

Also, I know that it will be hard, but I will have to break up with the two men in my life. I love them both dearly and that is precisely the problem. While they bring me instant gratification, the two men in a carton container are not good for me in so many ways. So they will get the boot. And I will lose my booty.

As women, our confidence and self-esteem is tied to the image of ourselves. It is important that we believe we look good. That’s why we are always looking for affirmation in this department. So it’s a constant tug of war and it takes a master to find the right balance between our need to eat healthy and delicious foods vs. our desire to look good. Ask Oprah, Marie Osmond or Jennifer Hudson.

Personally, I teeter-totter between the two. I love it when I look good, but I also love my sweets. So my friends, I’ve got to get focused and disciplined again. If anyone needs me, I’ll be on a walk, hike or at Bikram Yoga, God willing.

Hey, in a perfect world, I would look incredibly stunning and sexy, be with a man who loves me for who and what I am and be able to share laughter and travel and a good concert or movie. Why heck, if I were being devilish, I could even share a scoop or pint of ice cream with him whenever I want.

Stay well my friends and never lose hope. P.W.
