I have a great passion for life and hope and people. When I’m driving to appointments in the morning or afternoons, my thoughts come like machine gun fire: ideas on philanthropy, marketing, new enterprises, family and people.

The truth is, I’m better at some things than others.

I’m good at the day-to-day nuts-and-bolts of running the business … at speaking in group settings … at raising money … at good old-fashioned networking … and at organizing and executing detailed events months in advance. So there’s frustration when I try to write down the tsunami of thoughts on paper and see they have no resemblance to the ones that were in my head at the time.

But I make no bones about it; I’m not a writer. I even poke fun at myself and have said that English is my second language. Then too, where is the time? There are only 24 hours in a day and I want to use them wisely.

So I’ve been using a proofreader that helps me with grammar and structure and basically helps me organize my thoughts. Sometimes he fills the role of a ghostwriter – and will write an entire piece for me. He helps express and craft my ideas.

Some of you know him – he is a dear friend and a CSI Board member, John Adair.

Some ideas come from our conversations. For example, John went off on a tangent one time about how today’s politicians are so obsessed with snazzy ties. He had me cracking up, it was like a comedy bit. So we decided to do a blog, and I came up with the title, Political Ties, and he loved it. Then I said, “Doesn’t Trump have his own line of ties and shirts?” Then he was laughing. So a lot of times it’s a collaborative effort.

Anyway, I recognized his gift for writing and wanted to help and I thought, I’ll help him launch his own website. So I had my web guy design a basic website and John launched his site a few weeks ago. He’s working on a Poetry section, blogs, and a People & Places section.

To check out his website go to: www.johnrobertadair.com  Be sure to check out his latest blog, My Rockin Summer, a truly amazing story of his time spent with Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones when just a young teen.
